I have been positively busy with gigs, recordings, video shoots and other music related activities this past month and it feels so exciting to be working with so many different and wonderful people. Recently, I have connected deeply with the music scene in the Dandenong Ranges and have managed to build some beautiful friendships and working relationships with these very creative and experienced artists/musicians. Its been enriching to say the least and i expect that these connections will only grow stronger as time moves forward.
Among other great gigs, i have had a Summer long residency at 'Dudleys'cafe/wine bar in Olinda, which has given me great joy. My Sunday afternoons there have been blessed with buzzing audiences who come as strangers to the colorful main strip at the apex of the mountain and leave as new friends after enjoying wine and pizza on the front deck in the sun with me as the soundtrack filling the town square. I hope to continue there through the Autumn and possibly some indoor sessions throughout the Winter.
I was very grateful to have been invited by one the hills scenes most nurturing and supportive souls (Neesy Smith) to perform live on her program Now and Then on 3MDR Mountain District Radio, where we discussed the local scene, songwriting and also paid tribute to the great Ross Hannaford who passed away the day before. It was quite a special afternoon to be part of.
On top of all of this, i have had a great opportunity to work with one of Melbourne's' most creative visual artists and cinematographers in Joshua Levi Collings and his production company Pegleg Productions. The result of which i am super excited....
When the product of these awesome sessions is complete, you guys will be the first to know :-)
On the near Horizon!
I've been given a couple of spots at the Basin Music Festival this weekend. One of my favourite Festivals in the area and one that is put together by the hard work and dedication of co-ordinator and friend Ray Smith and his team of volunteers who work tirelessly to give the local musicians a place to showcase their music to the good folk in The Basin and surrounding areas. A beautiful Festival for Musicians.
Also, I am very excited to be working with both Jojo Smith and Cathy Dobson. Two wonderful songwriters and musicians who have agreed to join me for a show each in the next couple of months. I'm stoked.
Thanks so much for reading and for your wonderful support:-) See you soon K.
